Sad news out of southwestern Colorado after the reported death of climber and author Jack Roberts.
According to The Associated Press and the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, Roberts fell 60 feet during an ice climb on Sunday at Bridal Veil Ice Falls east of Telluride.
The report says Roberts, 58, broke his hip during the fall, then suffered from cardiac arrest during the rescue.
Members of the San Miguel County Search and Rescue Team spent 40 minutes trying to revive him, The AP reported.
The report says Roberts had been a climber for more than 40 years, was a guide, instructor and author of numerous books and articles on climbing.

Sad indeed. Looks like he left quite a legacy for the climbing community.
