A report says that investigators think a serac may have collapsed under the feet of Gil Weiss, 29, and Ben Horne, 32, two American climbers who were killed in a mountaineering accident in Peru.
The two were thought to have fallen 1,000 feet while downclimbing Palcaraju, a 20,584-foot peak in the Peruvian Andes.
A serac is a large chunk of ice and snow that builds up over time, but can break loose and cause large avalanches.
