While hiking with a friend in Wyoming on Aug. 11, 21-year-old Lexi De Forest didn’t quite make that last jump.
Leaping over an 8-foot gully, she slipped, fell and broke her ankle in a really nasty way.
She stayed put while her friend went for help. That help came, and she’s safe and sound now.
But this scary moment of being stuck in the wild while incapacitated by injury was something she documented on video. Have a look and see how Lexi, a student at Colorado State University, kept her spirits up, kept herself calm and provided an entertaining look into what it’s like to survive a backcountry emergency.
It’s not quite “127 Hours,” but it is really great to see how she simultaneously kept her composure and sense of humor.
