Sometimes you can go home again.
After what looked to be a somewhat testy breakup between Discovery and adventure TV specialist Bear Grylls, the two sides have found common ground and a common cause — a new survival show that will feature Grylls as the host, doing what Bear does best.
Grylls, the longtime star of the hit show “Man vs. Wild,” will return to the cable network in a new program titled “Ultimate Survivor,” according to Outsideonline.com. The program will focus on reenacting some of the most difficult survival stories in some of the world’s harshest environments, the website reported. In addition to Grylls, re-enacting the scenarios, the programs will include interviews with the real-life survivors of the incidents being profiled, according to another report from The Hollywood Reporter.
In a statement, Grylls seems upbeat about his latest venture with Discovery, saying:
“I am super-excited to be working with Discovery again—the channel where the ‘Man vs. Wild’ journey began. ‘Bear Grylls: Ultimate Survivor,’ and any future endeavors, will be intense—but that’s where the fun is! ‘Man vs. Wild’ took me to some of the toughest climates and terrains out there, and this new series is an exciting evolution of that. The aim is to follow incredible real-life survival stories and demonstrate dynamic life-saving know-how along the way.”
It’s not immediately clear when these episodes will run, but the network has ordered six so far.
